The best Ashtanga book ever

Posted by Wherehaveyoubean

This is still the most awesome book on Ashtanga I’ve ever read. And re-read. And re-read. And I still keep learning something extremely valuable, every time I open it…

Astanga Yoga as it is

Top pop-culture gurus

The Elephantbeans crew is pretty sure there’s a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously fit and flexible. And we plan on finding out what that is.

Here are some memorable clips of our favorite popular culture heroes, who never fail to inspire us in the path of the spiritual warrior:

-Derek Zoolander

-Yoda

-Tyra Banks

-Beth Ditto & The Gossip

Disclaimer: Positive Vibrations

Here at Elephantbeans, we have a good laugh, but never in a mean way.  We totally honor that there are many paths to truth, etc, and we often will poke fun at ourselves as well… We want to recognize that it takes a lot of guts to put something up on the internet, especially when it isn’t anonymous (we look a bit sheepish).  Okay, all that said, here are some Positive Vibrations because there is a lot of “good juice in the room”.

yogis everywhere now have the option of downloading mp3s of yoga and meditation classes, using a donation based system in which you pay what you can.

There’s so much good juice in the room!

Anusara teacher, Desiree Rumbaugh, has really parallel legs and is attempting kapotasana (we think) and then switches to an old-school lagu vajrasana at the last minute.  Or not.  They left it up for interpretation.

oh wait–that was video 18, video 17 confirms that it was just lagu after all.

Yoga Exposed

This guy really doesn’t like yoga.  I’m really really.  But anyway, thank you Dr. Scott Johnson for warning us of the dangers of yoga.

Is updog “cobra” in the UK?

It could have been a mistake — but…

In a recent youtube visit (like two minutes ago) I coincidentally found what looks like a preview for a new ashtanga instructional video.  (Coincidence because I am finishing up an article on ashtanga vids.  Look for it later today.)

An Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga – eSSence Yoga

Quick question.
Do British people always call “dogs” “cobras” and “heads” “shoulders”?
Thanks!

mini daydreams

posted by freebean

With the bitterly cold days, the economy, and the uber spendy Manhattan real estate market, I find myself drifting to dreamland.

Welcome to my daydream.

A little getaway bungalow in some tropical, sunshiny place – no frills (really) humble living with a flushing toilet, hot water, a kitchen and yes, internet access.

Helping my dream become a reality:  Tumbleweed Tiny House Company.

Now all I have to do is find the land, a builder, the rest I’ll figure out later (please help me manifest this!)… for now, I think I will settle for a relaxing vacation.

Where do your daydreams take you?
