Shorts for a Ball-Free Yoga Classroom

posted by freebean

Sports bras and bra tops run the gamut for yoginis, but for the yogi not everyone has the scoop on how to keep things in place. Because yoga is not a ball sport (unless it’s naked yoga), I picked the brain of fellow twitterer, YogaBalls to get his picks on dude duds:

Lululemon does have men’s shorts, but he finds them too long and after a few sweaty classes they tend to to get just as stinky as the boys who wear them.

Shakti Brazilian Trunks are tiny and tight enough to ensure no wardrobe malfunctions, YogaBalls give them a ‘4-ball rating’ because of their adequate ball room. Also getting a ‘4 ball rating’ are Max Shorts, which hold everything in place.

Although they can be ‘constricting to the balls,’ YogaBalls has both the Penguin and Brooklyn briefs from Bikram Yoga Products.

And then are other options for the more adventurous yogi looking to tap his animalistic side…. (yes, they are real and guys have been seen wearing them on youtube.com). For the more tame and if you aren’t heading to a hot yoga class – use these a layering item, as in wear some other shorts over them.

In closing, YogaBalls knows “Most men won’t wear the shorts recommended.” And so, he cautions that at the very least “Trunks should have a lining in order to keep the balls in place. Underwear won’t do it.”

For less speedo-inspired options, try a nice capri pant (guys, these go below the knee) – shorter than a full length pant, but equipped with full ball coverage insurance.

Please beware, if you are a real sweater or take a lot of hot/Bikram classes, a change of clothing for after your practice is required.
